Ping Pong

I LOVE me some ping pong, and when I say “love” I mean I can play for hours, I will play until I’m asked to leave.  One of my favourite opponents is my good friend James McBain, so this past Sunday we had a two part shoot (see part one below) where we both got together with an idea and shot them.  Mine was ping pong.  McBain’s got a pretty deadly overhand smash and when it lands on the table he’s pretty unstoppable.  So here’s a trio of photos of one of my best friends playing my favourite fringe sport.

Erika

Last night I had a dance shoot with my friend Erika, she was looking for some new dance promos and I was happy to put something together with her.  Erika just returned home from a one year stint as a dance teacher in Norway, so I guess she knows what she’s doing.

Richard Crouse

Yesterday evening I had the incredible pleasure of photographing my favourite film critic, Richard Crouse.  Richard was looking for some new promo photos and a few head shots and I jumped at the opportunity to work with him.  He’s not only one of Canada’s leading film critics but he’s legitimately one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.  Richard continues to write for Metro and make regular appearances on CTV, where, for my money, he gives the most honest and accurate assessments of films out there.  Richard also has an eight part short film series called “In Short” over at Bravo where they feature short films from veteran and novice filmmakers.  Don’t forget to do yourself a favour and pick up his incredible book, “The 100 Best Movies You’ve Never Seen”.  You can also follow Richard on twitter here.

Rob & The Chevy

My friend Rob has a pretty impress fleet of automobiles, my favourite of all of them is his beautiful ‘63 Chevy Nova.  I’m not a car guy buy any means, but any one can see this is a beautiful machine.  We’ve been trying to get together to shoot it for a little while now and everything finally came together today.  Rob’s no only a cool car owner he’s also a super talented director, I photographed him for my Filmmakers project last summer, read more about Rob and look at his work through my post here.

Crazy Diamond

Last night I had a shoot with my favourite band Crazy Diamond.  They were looking for a few new promo shots for the summer so I was happy to come out to Toronto and shoot with them.  They’re playing North by Northeast next month, so if you see their name on the list of possible bands make sure you go see them.  So good!

Ana

Tonight I had a fun shoot with my good friend Ana.  She’s entering a Much Music look-a-like contest as Katy Perry.  As soon as I heard Katy Perry I said, “get the puff balls and birds, we makin’ a photo.” Hair and Make-up by the extraordinarily talented Sherry Vanstone.

And here’s a behind the scenes video from the shoot:

Anna With Love

I had the pleasure of being interviewed last week by an old friend of mine and fellow photographer Anna Tsoulogiannis.  I met Anna back when I was going to film school, she’s a very sweet, talented and very driven woman.  We sort of lost touch post film school but via facebook we’ve reconnected over photography.  She recently left her job at a fairly well know TV station to pursue photography.  She’s got a great blog and a bright future, check her stuff out here.  Below is a photo I shot of her for the interview and spotlight I did on here site which can be seen here.

100th Post – Rick Ng

Rick Ng is a fisherman.  Rick is the originator of Urban Fishing, he spends the majority of his time in creek beds, local ponds and large puddles.  Needless to say he terrible at what he does, but he’s got heart but not too much of it.

Filmmakers Outtakes

For now I have finished my Filmmakers project, so I just wanted to post a few of my “second favourite” shots.  Photos that didn’t make the final cut but ones I have a soft spot for.  This may not be the end of Filmmakers, I have a feeling I might go on a shooting rampage sometime this summer and try and do another 20…hahaha…but seriously it’ll be a rampage.

Dan Freeman

I recently photographed an old friend of mine Dan Freeman.  We did a quick little fashion shoot at sunset down at the Sound Academy in Toronto.  It was great to see an old friend and I think we got a couple nice photos out of it.
