I had a quick shoot with my friend Trevor tonight. I was really surprised when he showed up at my house with a shirt with sleeves, Trevor usually likes to walk around with his guns unsheathed. Something I learned from shooting a few close-ups is that Trevor has the longest eye lashes I’ve ever seen on a man.

Last night I had a shoot with the very beautiful and talented Rory. Rory’s been floating around my portfolio for the past few years in a party photo I really like but last night was the first time we actually met. She was a very sweet girl and a lot of fun to shoot with. A huge thank you to Cathie Heaslip (my mom) for making the clouds, she went to bed many nights with furring fingers just so I could make these pictures. Thanks Mom!

I had a fun little shoot tonight with a very sweet girl, Emily Dixon. I had the pleasure of doing some photos on a fundraiser that Emily was helping to organize last fall. On a side note, my posts may be a bit few and far between for the next couple weeks. I’m packing up shop and moving back to Toronto with the future Mrs. James Heaslip Photography, Kate Carlson. Super pumped to get settled and back in the big city.

Last night a had a fun shoot with one of my oldest friends, Kyle. If you follow my blog you’ve definitely seen his face here before. A few of my friends and I had this awful idea for a series called “Clown Lawyer” where Kyle would play the title character. By day he’d defend criminals but by night he’s a clown, awful. We haven’t really worked on it too much for obvious reasons but every once in a while I like to see what what the Clown Lawyer is doing, so tonight we pulled out the face makeup and shot a little bit.

El Queefo! came storming back into town this week and a lot has happen to our favourite Luchador since I last caught up with him. He’s won or possibly had made his brand new championship belt hanging over his shoulder, I’ve never heard of any wrestling promotion called TCIV, but he claims to be their champion. After years of search and conducting countless interviews Queefo has finally selected a manager, Senior Jalapeno! He is said to be the mexican Bobby Heenan. Jalapeno has wasted little time getting Queefo on a path to superstardom, he’s already lined up a starring role in a series of feature films in Mexico. The first will be released in the fall and it’s called “Backdoor into Mexico: Big Bottom Mexicanos”. I quietly tried to tell Queefo that Jalapeno might be getting him involved in pornography, he wasn’t phased. This is a young man on the rise.

I had a pair of shoots with my very good friend James McBain tonight. I had a few ideas that I’ve wanted to shoot with him for a while now. When he stepped off the go train holding his finely crafted Korean tuxedo and that beautiful god damn push broom moustache and said he wanted to head down to Burlington beach I got pretty excited! A huge thank you to Dr. Ben Fielding for assisting on this evening shoot.

I LOVE me some ping pong, and when I say “love” I mean I can play for hours, I will play until I’m asked to leave. One of my favourite opponents is my good friend James McBain, so this past Sunday we had a two part shoot (see part one below) where we both got together with an idea and shot them. Mine was ping pong. McBain’s got a pretty deadly overhand smash and when it lands on the table he’s pretty unstoppable. So here’s a trio of photos of one of my best friends playing my favourite fringe sport.

Last night I had a dance shoot with my friend Erika, she was looking for some new dance promos and I was happy to put something together with her. Erika just returned home from a one year stint as a dance teacher in Norway, so I guess she knows what she’s doing.

Yesterday evening I had the incredible pleasure of photographing my favourite film critic, Richard Crouse. Richard was looking for some new promo photos and a few head shots and I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. He’s not only one of Canada’s leading film critics but he’s legitimately one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Richard continues to write for Metro and make regular appearances on CTV, where, for my money, he gives the most honest and accurate assessments of films out there. Richard also has an eight part short film series called “In Short” over at Bravo where they feature short films from veteran and novice filmmakers. Don’t forget to do yourself a favour and pick up his incredible book, “The 100 Best Movies You’ve Never Seen”. You can also follow Richard on twitter here.
